Oak Bay United Church will celebrate Earth Day 2024 though the telling of the indigenous tale Raven Brings the Light. This traditional story of the peoples of the Northwest Coast of British Columbia originates over 3,000 years ago. It will be recounted by Robert (Lucky) Budd, a gifted oral storyteller, who collaborates with renowned Indigenous artist Roy Henry Vickers to preserve traditional stories and share them with people of all ages.
Admission: by donation to cover costs and to support Reconciliation and Climate Care work. No pre-registration necessary. Doors will open at 1:45 pm, and close at 4 pm.
Storytelling will take place in the sanctuary (upstairs). This is an elevator accessible space (entry via Granite street, to the right of the ramp). Following the story and a question period with Lucky, we will move downstairs to the Community Hall for refreshments and art-making.
Lucky will autograph copies of Raven Brings the Light and other titles. We’ll have some copies available for purchase, or you may bring your own copies from home.
