Who We Are

Oak Bay United Church traces its founding to two faith communities: St. Columba Presbyterian Church, which built the present sanctuary, and Hampshire Road Methodist Church. These two congregations in 1926 amalgamated under the newly formed United Church of Canada and held their first service as Oak Bay United Church.

The ministry of Oak Bay United Church has always been rooted in a love of scripture and a commitment to study of the Word that guides and shapes us. Our passion for discipleship has been nurtured and sustained by a profound understanding of servant leadership. We walk our journey with open hearts, daring to care, and seeking to serve the needs of our community.

Our congregation is committed to living as a community of spiritually passionate and compassionate people. We seek to deepen our connection with God as Creator, Christ and Spirit, to love our neighbour and to participate in our communities. We seek to be rooted in the deep joy and gratitude for the goodness of life, sharing this gift of faith with others. We seek to engage in meaningful, purpose-driven ministry that makes a difference in our lives and the world.
